Sobrero Photography

After working nearly 30 years in Silicon Valley I volunteered to ‘take the package’  and pursue my love for capturing the beauty of the Columbia Gorge.  Actually, it was my boyfriend Mark who finally convinced me I should ‘do what I love’ and forget trying to find another high tech job in the Gorge, and guess what... he was right!

I have always owned a camera as long as I remember and in fact when I was 8 years old the first thing I ever bought with my allowance money was a Kodak Instamatic camera for which I paid $8.98.

When I was 14 years old my family and I were visiting Glacier Point at Yosemite National Park and I had the honor of meeting Ansel Adams.  That day I took  picture of him which he later signed when my mother attended a photography course at Stanford University where he was a guest speaker.  I must confess that that picture has been one of the most valued possessions I’ve had my entire life.

I currently reside in Hood River, Oregon and wake up every morning inspired by the natural beauty of the Columbia Gorge.  I have come to appreciate the cloudy days as they make a beautiful backdrop for any picture, not to mention the ‘drama’ they add.

Most of my shots are within the Columbia Gorge/Hood River region, however there are a few from Canon Beach, British Columbia and Lake Pend Orielle, Idaho.  I hope you enjoy them and since my camera shutter fires almost daily,  I will continue to add more work so please check back often.
